Structural Engineer In Training (Edmonton, AB) - Job Code HG-ET-0422 Project Basis

As a diverse and rapidly growing organization, HINGENEERING Consulting provides structural, electrical and mechanical engineering consulting services for residential, commercial and industrial buildings in addition to oil and gas facilities and infrastructures (highway bridges and transmission lines) within the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario.

HINGENEERING is looking for a Structural Engineer in Training in Edmonton, Alberta Columbia on a project basis. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, self-directed and, possess a passion for structural engineering.

Job Responsibilities:

This position is accountable for applying intensive, complex and diversified knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields, making independent decisions to solve structural engineering problems, resolving questions and planning and coordinating work.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume and deadline-driven environment.

  • Provide engineering technical support to the field during construction, including responding to RFIs from Contractors

  • Site inspections and field reviews experience is required

  • Developing preliminary design and engineering specifications

  • Handle multiple diverse assignments successfully in a consulting firm environment

  • Working with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, FEA packages, etc…

  • Comfortable in working to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. Civil Engineering with Structures Major from a recognized university and approved in Canada

  • M.Sc. in Structural Engineering is an asset

  • Experience working with Alberta and British Columbia Building Codes

  • Experience with wood frame, concrete and steel analysis and design

  • Minimum 3 years in Canadian consulting firm environment is an asset

  • Registered as Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta

  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment internally and externally

  • High technical competence and strong attention to detail

  • A strong technical capability and the ability to work in a team environment

Intermediate Structural Designer (Edmonton, AB) - Job Code HG-SD-03022 Project Basis
 

As a diverse and rapidly growing organization, HINGENEERING Consulting provides structural, electrical and mechanical engineering consulting services for residential, commercial and industrial buildings in addition to oil and gas facilities and infrastructures (highway bridges and transmission lines) within the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario. 

HINGENEERING is looking for an Intermediate Structural Designer at our office in Edmonton, Alberta on a project basis. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, self-directed and, possess a passion for structural engineering.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Model layout, elevations, sections and connections details for foundations, concrete, steel structures and wood frames with Autocad

  • Draft and develop high quality detailed structural drawings and layouts

  • Ensure all drawings and materials are in accordance with specifications and standards, including all applicable codes and regulations

  • Reviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against project standards and specifications

  • Draft reinforced concrete foundations for residential and commercial buildings in addition to timber and structural steel framing, etc.

  • Effectively work in a multidiscipline environment with minimal supervision

  • Field work and site measurements as required

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with a minimum of 4 years of applicable experience as a Civil/Structural Designer

  • In depth understanding of structural aspects of residential, commercial and industrial projects.

  • Proficient (advanced) with AutoCAD

  • Experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset

  • Effective communication skills, and have the ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment

  • Site experience required
